What do you do when you are bored and want to hang out with friends? Spam everyone in your contacts with texts, or add a "bored hmu" Snapchat to your story? What if you could just flick a virtual switch on your smartphone to the on position, and your friends could instantly see you were free to hang out? Well, that's what Google has created with its new app that is currently in Beta, by the name of Who's Down.
Who's Down simply does as the name implies: it asks your friends list who's down for an activity or hanging out.
While I see this as a really neat way of finding out who is free quickly, I do see it as troublesome: for example, you might not want to hang out with someone at an exact moment, but if you ask " Who's down for a movie tonight?" and that one person messages you, you have to awkwardly ignore them, even though they know that you are free and looking for someone to hang out with. There are other potential issues too, such as our world becoming more and more socially dependent on technology to guide our social lives and define who we are, but I still think this is a very cool idea, but it is unfortunately only available via invite from Google or a friend that has the app currently, which is a very limited few. However, assuming this app is availble to the mainstream sometime in the near future, who's down to try it?
