A new post made by Google today brought a shock to many AP Lang students. Google has announced that, after 9 years, they are shutting down Blogger. For those that don't know, Blogger is a small platform run by Google, Inc, to allow individuals and small businesses to start a small outlet in the community to communicate and create a following in a blog-centric presence. It allowed people to communicate with fans differently than a comment or a tweet, and allowed stories to be told. I have used Blogger for several years now, for both school and personal use, and I have to say, it actually kinda sucks. The competition, namely WordPress, has many more options and aesthetics, that really allow a blog to look far more professional and shine to the reader. However, what Blogger has done well in its many years of existence is staying the same. It doesn't change its looks or layout, so once people learned how to use it, they always knew how to use it, and new features wouldn't confuse the user. It also allowed lower-level users to simply create a blog and have it work, and not have to worry about all of the advanced features of WordPress.
So while it is sad that Blogger has to go, overall, it will help free the mind and the user from such basic anomalies of nature, and we shall progress to more advanced methods of communicating through WordPress from now on. And with that, have a happy April Fools Day.
